Pakistan’s National Tariff Commission (NTC) has announced it will extend existing antidumping duties on galvanized steel to include galvalume steel imports from China, following a completed circumvention investigation.
The probe focused on galvalume steel coils/sheets, also referred to as alu-zinc or zinc-aluminum steel, and found that Chinese exporters were circumventing existing duties on galvanized steel by shifting exports to similar but technically distinct product categories.
40.47% Duty Now Applies to Galvalume Steel
As a result, the current antidumping duty of 40.47%, which previously applied only to galvanized steel from China, will now also apply to galvalume steel products from the same origin.
The decision takes immediate effect and will remain in force until February 8, 2027.
Product Codes Covered
The affected products fall under the following Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) numbers:
- 7210.6110
- 7210.6190
- 7210.6910
- 7210.6990
This move underscores Pakistan’s resolve to enforce trade remedies and prevent duty circumvention through product substitution, ensuring fair competition for domestic steel producers.
