Sweden’s Stegra receives €100 million state aid for green steel operations

Investment in Green Steel Production

Stegra, formerly H2 Green Steel, has received approximately €100 million from Sweden’s Industrial Leap Fund to support its green steel plant in Boden. This funding will accelerate the transition to sustainable solutions and create fair competition between traditional and new green steel companies.

Plant Details

The new facility will include a 690 MW electrolyzer, a direct reduction plant, two electric arc furnaces, and cold rolling and finishing facilities. It aims to produce 2.4 million metric tons of green steel annually and is set to begin operations in 2026.
